Choose MotionCam Outdoor when you want outdoor motion detection with automatic photos following an alarm. The images can help users and monitoring personnel quickly assess whether an event involves an intruder, an animal or another cause without relying on the motion notification alone.

This standard MotionCam Outdoor takes photos when its own motion detector generates an alarm. If you also need Photo on Demand or photos triggered by supported scenarios, choose the Ajax MotionCam Outdoor (PhOD) Jeweller instead.

How It Works

MotionCam Outdoor uses two independent PIR sensors to monitor the protected area. An alarm is generated when both sensors detect movement and the signals pass Ajax LISA correlation and spectral analysis, helping distinguish genuine human movement from common outdoor interference.

The alarm is transmitted to the Ajax hub through the Jeweller radio protocol. At the same time, the built-in camera captures a configurable series of photos, which are transferred through the dedicated Wings protocol and displayed with the alarm event in the Ajax app.

Photos can be captured at 320 × 176 or 640 × 352 pixel resolution. Built-in infrared illumination allows visual verification in darkness and low-light conditions.

Before You Buy

• A compatible Ajax hub with photo-verification support is required and is sold separately.
• MotionCam Outdoor Jeweller is compatible with the Hub 2, Hub 2 Plus and Superior Hub Hybrid families.
• If additional wireless coverage is required, use Ajax ReX 2; the original ReX does not support Wings photo transmission.
• The standard MotionCam Outdoor provides Photo by Alarm. It does not provide Photo on Demand or the extended photo features of the MotionCam Outdoor (PhOD).
• For effective pet immunity, install the detector approximately 0.8–1.3 m above ground level with its lens axis parallel to the ground.
• The expected path of an intruder should cross the detector’s field of view rather than approach directly along the lens axis.
• The detector operates from four CR123A batteries and does not support external power.
• The supplied Hood should be fitted to help protect the camera and anti-masking sensors from rain and snow.
