Ajax MotionCam Outdoor (PhOD) Jeweller – outdoor motion detection with Photo on Demand and extended visual verification

The Ajax MotionCam Outdoor (PhOD) Jeweller combines intelligent outdoor motion detection with a built-in camera, allowing an Ajax system to provide visual information about what is happening around the protected property. In addition to automatically taking photos after a motion alarm, authorised users can request photos through the Ajax app or configure supported photo scenarios and schedules.

Adjustable detection from 3 to 15 m, two PIR sensors, LISA false-alarm filtering, pet immunity and anti-masking protection make it well suited to driveways, gardens, parking areas, passages, yards and other outdoor approaches where both early detection and visual verification are important.

It is particularly useful for properties where you may want to check an entrance, driveway, parking area or other outdoor zone remotely while still having the detector operate as part of the Ajax intrusion alarm system.

How It Works

MotionCam Outdoor (PhOD) uses two independent PIR sensors to detect movement. Ajax SmartDetect and the LISA algorithm analyse the thermal signals from both sensors, using correlation and spectral analysis to help distinguish genuine human movement from common sources of outdoor interference.

When an armed detector confirms motion, the alarm is sent immediately to the Ajax hub through the Jeweller protocol. The built-in camera can then capture a series of photos, which are transferred through the Wings protocol and displayed with the event in the Ajax app.

Photo on Demand adds the ability for authorised users to request a current image through the Ajax app. The detector also supports Photo by Scenario, Photo by Schedule and Photo by Arming/Disarming when these functions are configured and permitted by the system’s privacy settings.

Spectral analysis

When both sensors detect motion, but the correlational analysis doesn’t identify enough similarities, LISA compares frequency components in the signals of both sensors.

Before You Buy

• A compatible Ajax hub with photo-verification support is required and is sold separately.
• Compatible hubs are Hub 2 (2G), Hub 2 (4G), Hub 2 Plus, Superior Hub Hybrid (2G) and Superior Hub Hybrid (4G).
• If additional wireless coverage is required, use Ajax ReX 2. The original Ajax ReX does not support the Wings protocol required for photo transmission.
• Photo on Demand and other extended photo functions are controlled by Ajax privacy and user-access settings and may need to be enabled by an authorised administrator.
• This detector provides still-photo verification rather than continuous video or live streaming.
• At suitable Wings signal strength, a single image can take up to approximately 9 seconds at 320 × 176 resolution or 20 seconds at 640 × 352 resolution to reach the Ajax app. Photo on Demand requires up to approximately 3 seconds to start capturing.
• Install the detector approximately 0.8–1.3 m above ground level for effective pet immunity.
• The detector operates from four CR123A batteries and does not support an external power supply.
• The supplied Hood helps protect the camera and anti-masking sensors from rain and snow.
