Ajax GlassProtect Jeweller – wireless indoor glass-break detection up to 9 m

The Ajax GlassProtect Jeweller protects windows and other glazing by listening for the characteristic sounds produced when glass breaks. Its built-in electret microphone can detect a break from up to 9 m away, allowing one detector to monitor glazing within a room without being mounted directly onto each pane.

Two-stage acoustic analysis helps distinguish a genuine break from ordinary household noises, while Jeweller wireless communication connects the detector to the Ajax alarm system without running alarm cabling back to the hub.

Is This Right for You?

GlassProtect is a practical choice for rooms with windows, glazed doors or other vulnerable glass where you want acoustic break detection rather than a contact fixed to the glass itself. Its 180° microphone coverage allows flexible indoor positioning provided there is a clear acoustic path between the detector and the protected glazing.

It is not suitable for detecting the breakage of glass covered with shockproof, sunscreen, decorative or similar films. For film-covered glazing, use an appropriate Ajax detector with shock detection instead.

How It Works

GlassProtect uses an electret microphone to analyse sound in two stages. For a glass-break alarm, it must first recognise the low-frequency sound of an impact and then the higher-frequency sound of glass shattering within the expected sequence.

This acoustic filtering helps reduce false alarms from ordinary noises such as clapping. When a valid break pattern is detected while the system is armed, the detector sends an alarm to the Ajax hub over the Jeweller wireless protocol.

Before You Buy

• A compatible Ajax hub is required for operation as part of an Ajax alarm system.
• GlassProtect is designed for indoor installation only.
• Position the detector within 9 m of the protected glazing and avoid objects that significantly obstruct sound between the glass and microphone.
• Do not install it close to sirens or loudspeakers, or in areas with strong draughts or rapid air circulation that may affect acoustic detection.
• GlassProtect does not detect the breaking of film-covered glass, including glazing with shockproof, sunscreen or decorative film.
• After installation, use the Ajax Detection Zone Test and select the appropriate microphone sensitivity for the room.
