Duke Sonic Boom Tripwire Kit (±130dB – 1 second detonation)

Duke Sonic Boom Tripwire Kit contains no harmful chemicals, no primers and no thermal reactions, so there is no fire or explosive hazard, which makes it intrinsically safe.

The Sonic Boom Tripwire Kit does not fall under the international explosives act, so they are totally legal to use in a self-defence situation. The unit packs an intense sonic punch of approximately 130dB.

The cores can be re-used with or without active ingredients, making them ideal and very cost effective for training purposes.

The Duke Sonic Boom Tripwire Kit has a detonation time of approximately 1 second. Spent bottles can be replaced by purchasing a refill.

Difference Between the Duke Sonic Boom and the Sonic Boom Tripwire Kit

Although both products use the same Sonic Boom device, they are activated in completely different ways and are designed for different purposes.

Sonic Boom Kit – Hand-Deployed

  • The ring is pulled out and the top of the device is slammed to activate it.
  • After activation, the device detonates within 3 – 5 seconds with a loud sonic blast designed for disorientation and area disruption.
  • This kit is intended to be thrown toward a threat making it suitable for personal defence, crowd control or controlled deployment.

Sonic Boom Tripwire Kit – Static Area Defence

  • This version does not require slamming.
  • It includes a tripwire cord and mounting clips for fixed installation.
  • When the tripwire cord is pulled, the device detonates immediately releasing the sonic blast on impact.
  • Designed for securing entrances, gates, pathways, corridors or perimeter points where an intruder may pass.

In summary:

  • The standard Sonic Boom Kit is manually activated and used as a throwable, timed-delay device.
  • The Tripwire Kit is automatically triggered when the cord pulls the tripwire ring out providing hands-free, static protection for fixed locations.

Instructions & Precautions

INSTRUCTIONS: To be used by professionally trained personnel, military, law enforcement, security, correctional services as a self-defence product. Reduce injuries or accidental discharge by following these instructions.

Using the pivot handle (as per instructions) to attach the trigger clip. Set up the tripwire. Pull the safety clip to arm the tripwire. To disarm the tripwire, replace the safety clip by using the pivot handle. The delay on the device rupture will be approximately 1 second from activation. To disarm the tripwire, replace the safety ring, by using the pivot handle.

The Tripwire unit comes with a 4m tripwire and detailed instructions on how to set the unit. We suggest you use the 2 x mounting bracket options which have been purposely designed for the unit to burst and disperse its payload optimally. (Brackets sold separately)

Spent bottles can be replaced by purchasing a refill kit.

PRECAUTIONS: Do not keep the tripwire in your hands after activation, it could cause physical harm.

Do not incinerate the tripwire as the internal CO2 canister is under pressure. Store in a cool dry place, do not expose the device to temperatures over 50°C or under 0°C.
