Ajax MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller – indoor motion detection with Photo on Demand and extended visual verification

The Ajax MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller combines reliable PIR motion detection with a built-in camera, giving an Ajax alarm system visual information about what is happening inside the protected room. Unlike the standard MotionCam, the PhOD version is not limited to taking photos after its own motion alarm.

Authorised users can request a photo from the Ajax app, while additional photo scenarios can capture images following selected system events, on a schedule or when the system is armed or disarmed. This makes MotionCam (PhOD) particularly useful where you want both intrusion detection and flexible visual verification without installing a continuously recording camera.

How It Works

The PIR sensor monitors the room for movement. When the system is armed and motion is detected, the alarm is transmitted immediately over the Jeweller wireless protocol and the camera can capture a configurable series of photos. Images are transferred separately using the Ajax Wings protocol.

MotionCam (PhOD) extends this functionality with Photo on Demand, allowing permitted users to request an image through the Ajax app. It can also take photos according to supported scenarios, schedules and arming or disarming events when these functions are enabled and configured.

Three photo resolutions are available: 160 × 120, 320 × 240 and 640 × 480 pixels. Integrated infrared illumination allows the detector to take black-and-white photos when there is insufficient ambient light.

• Ajax ReX 2 can be used when additional Jeweller and Wings wireless coverage is required.
• Photo on Demand and other extended photo functions are controlled by Ajax privacy and user-access settings and may need to be enabled by an authorised system administrator.
• This detector provides still-image verification rather than continuous video or live streaming.
• Photo delivery time depends on image resolution, wireless signal strength and the hub’s internet connection. With a direct hub connection under specified signal conditions, one image can take up to approximately 7 seconds at 160 × 120, 9 seconds at 320 × 240 or 20 seconds at 640 × 480.
• Enabling and frequently using Photo on Demand affects battery life: operation is rated up to 4 years with Photo on Demand disabled and up to 3 years when it is enabled.
