The Ajax LightCore 2-Way Jeweller is the electronic relay used when one lighting circuit needs to be controlled from more than one switch position. It is ideal for staircases, passages, bedrooms and larger rooms where the same light needs to be switched from two locations.

This is a 2-way switch rather than a 2-gang switch: it controls one lighting circuit from multiple switch positions, not two independent lighting circuits. The LightCore operates without a neutral wire and is completed with an Ajax SoloButton 1-Gang touch panel.

How It Works

A 2-way lighting circuit allows the same light to be switched from two different locations. The Ajax LightCore 2-Way can operate with another LightCore 2-Way or with a compatible conventional mechanical 2-way switch, allowing an existing 2-way lighting arrangement to be upgraded without requiring a neutral conductor at the Ajax switch position.

A SoloButton 1-Gang attaches to the LightCore to provide the touch-sensitive control surface. The touch panel also contains the antennas used for communication with the Ajax hub, so it must be installed before the LightSwitch is added to the Ajax system.

Once assembled, the switch can operate locally without being added to an Ajax hub. Connecting it to a compatible Ajax system adds remote app control, schedules, timers and automation scenarios.

Before You Buy

• This product is the LightCore 2-Way relay core only. An Ajax SoloButton 1-Gang touch panel is required to complete each standalone Ajax switch point.
• 2-way refers to controlling one lighting circuit from more than one switch position. It does not control two separate lighting circuits.
• A complete two-location circuit requires a suitable second 2-way switch point. This can be another Ajax LightCore 2-Way or a compatible conventional mechanical 2-way switch.
• For each Ajax LightSwitch installed into a standard South African 100 × 50 mm / 4 × 2 wall box, add an IoT 4 × 2 Wall Box Installation Adapter.
• The Ajax LightSwitch uses the European type 55 mounting format and does not fit directly into a standard South African 4 × 2 wall box.
• A compatible Ajax hub is required for remote app control, schedules and automation, but local switching can operate without a hub once the LightSwitch is correctly assembled.
• For a low-power or unstable lighting load, the bundled capacitor may need to be connected in parallel with the lighting appliance.
• Smart lamps containing their own brightness or colour control, relay, radio module or microcontroller are not supported.
• The LightCore is rated IP20 and is intended for indoor installation.
• Installation must be carried out by a suitably qualified electrician or installer.
