Ajax Hub Hybrid is a game-changer among professional security systems. It is the first Ajax control panel that supports Jeweller devices and the all-new Fibra product line. The Ajax Hub control panels measure 163 x 163 x 36mm and come ready to work out of the box. Each panel includes the following hardware, neatly integrated into a compact enclosure:
- Power supply (cable included)
- Battery backup for up to 15/16 hours
- SIM card slot(s) (SIM card not supplied)
- Ethernet port (cable included)
- Anti-tamper protection
- Smart bracket for easy mounting
The Hubs are set up and controlled via the powerful, free Ajax mobile app for Android and iOS. The app provides real-time monitoring of all wireless and wired devices with instant notifications sent to users’ phones via push notifications (similar to WhatsApp), and optionally via voice, SMS or directly to your armed response company via Ajax Cloud or, if preferred, a wired connection to radio transmitters.
Ajax uses a proprietary radio protocol called Jeweller enabling two-way communication between the Hub and its devices over hundreds of meters. Additionally, Wings technology was developed to transmit photos from Ajax MotionCam devices allowing for visual alarm verification. The app displays separate signal strength indicators for both Jeweller and Wings-supported devices.

The Ajax Hub Models Overview
The Ajax Hub and Hub Plus are first-generation control panels based on older technology and do not include Wings technology which is required for MotionCam support.
The second-generation Hub 2 and Hub 2 Plus incorporate the latest technology and are compatible with all Ajax devices. The Hub 2 was available in two versions:
- Hub 2 (2G) with two 2G SIM slots (EOL)
- Hub 2 (4G) with two 4G (LTE) SIM slots
The primary difference between these versions is the communication channels supported by the SIM card.
The Hub 2 Plus features two 4G (LTE) SIM slots, offering backup for internet failure and includes WiFi for a wireless connection to a router.
The Hub (4G) is the latest control panel for systems that don’t require extensive features. Based on the original Hub technology, it now supports 4G (LTE) SIM cards but lacks Wings technology for MotionCam compatibility and does not support all Ajax products.
Important Features to Consider When Selecting a Hub
- Number of Scenarios:
Scenarios automate functions, such as:- Auto-arming/disarming the system or groups
- Setting up automation actions using Relay, WallSwitch & Socket by schedule, in response to system actions, or with a button press.
- Range Extender Compatibility (ReX and ReX 2):
- Hub, Hub (4G) and Hub Plus are compatible with ReX (1) only
- Hub 2 and Hub 2 Plus support both ReX models
SIM Cards for Ajax Hubs
SIM cards are inserted into the Ajax Hubs and predominantly serve as a contingency measure in the case of internet failure. Additionally they can be used autonomously in the Hubs where no internet is available such as in yachts, building sites, storage facilities, warehouses, caravans, campervans etc.

Shutdown of 2G & 3G Networks
South Africa’s proposed plan to shut down 2G and 3G - including banning 2G devices
In light of the deteriorating state of our 2G infrastructure and the planned decommissioning of 2G and 3G networks in South Africa, 2G Hubs are no longer being imported (May 2023).
