The Ajax LightCore 2-Gang Jeweller is the electronic relay that forms the working core of a dual-circuit Ajax LightSwitch. It independently controls two lighting circuits from a single wall-switch position and, once paired with a compatible SoloButton 2-Gang, provides touch control at the wall together with remote control, schedules and automation through a compatible Ajax system.

The LightCore operates without a neutral conductor and uses the European type 55 mounting format. For installation into a standard South African 100 × 50 mm / 4 × 2 wall box, add the IoT 4 × 2 Wall Box Installation Adapter.

If you already have a compatible SoloButton 2-Gang and a suitable type 55 mounting arrangement, the LightCore can be purchased on its own. Otherwise, choose the required touch panel and wall-box adapter using the Product Add-ons on this page.

How It Works

The LightCore connects to the live phase and provides two independently controlled outputs for two lighting circuits. It does not require a neutral conductor at the switch position, making it well suited to many retrofit installations.

A SoloButton 2-Gang attaches to the LightCore and provides two touch-sensitive control areas, one for each circuit. The touch panel also contains the antennas used for wireless communication with the Ajax hub, so the correct panel must be fitted before adding the LightSwitch to the Ajax system.

Once assembled, the LightSwitch can operate locally as a regular touch switch without being added to a hub. Connecting it to a compatible Ajax system enables remote app control, schedules, timers and automation scenarios for the two channels.

Before You Buy

• This product is the LightCore 2-Gang electronic relay only. An Ajax SoloButton 2-Gang touch panel is required to complete a standalone switch.
• This model controls two separate lighting circuits. It is not a 2-way switch for controlling one light from two locations.
• For installation into a standard South African 100 × 50 mm / 4 × 2 wall box, add the IoT 4 × 2 Wall Box Installation Adapter.
• The Ajax LightSwitch uses the European type 55 mounting format and does not fit directly into a standard South African 4 × 2 wall box.
• A compatible Ajax hub is required for remote app control, schedules and automation, but local switching can operate without a hub once the LightSwitch is correctly assembled.
• Each channel supports lighting loads from approximately 5 W up to 300 W, with a maximum combined load of 600 W.
• A bundled capacitor is provided for installations where a low-power lamp, flashing when switched off or unstable operation requires it. Install it according to the Ajax wiring instructions.
• Smart lamps containing their own brightness or colour controller, relay, radio module or microcontroller are not supported.
• The LightCore is rated IP20 and is intended for indoor installation.
• Installation must be carried out by a suitably qualified electrician or installer.
